HISS | Humane and Innovative Solutions for Strays

H.I.S.S. has made great contributions toward the stray and feral cats of Dutchess County. In our first three years alone H.I.S.S. volunteers  trapped, spayed/neutered, vaccinated and released nearly 700 cats.     H.I.S.S. takes in about 300 adoptable cats and kittens each year and places them into loving homes through the P.A.N.T. Rescue Program.   For those cats who are unadoptable, they are spayed/neutered/vaccinated and then returned to their original environments, where dedicated caregivers devote themselves to caring for them for the rest of their lives.  Cats who have no caretakers at their location, are relocated when we are fortunate enough to have quality barn homes available.

H.I.S.S. regularly speaks on behalf of feral cats.   We work closely with a number of different businesses and institutions each year to help them control their cat overpopulation problem in a humane, yet effective, manner.   Many of these businesses originally planned to euthanize the cats or trap and relocate them to areas where they have no food source and would have suffered and, most likely, died.

H.I.S.S. also donates food to caregivers  - we provide food to approximately 75 cats.

H.I.S.S. is always looking for quality barn homes.   Please contact H.I.S.S. if you or someone you know can provide such a barn home for a feral cat.     H.I.S.S. is always in need of volunteers to trap and/or transport cats; we also need folks who will help with educating the public in regard to TNR (trap/neuter/return).
